Susie Kaplan is a certified Mindfulness Instructor. She has been practicing meditation for many years and has attended several silent retreats.
In 2016 she went on a Spiritual Trip to Thailand where she learned with Master Teachers. This trip proved to be life altering as the pure teachings of Mindfulness profoundly affected her heart. Since then, Susie has been immersed in Mindfulness practice and became a certified instructor in 2017.
Susie is passionate about teaching Mindfulness and has created a Course called "Mindfulness for Daily Life". It is a practical course designed to help people implement the practice of Mindfulness from the very first class.
Susie combines her backround in Education and her passion for Mindfulness in her step by step approach helping her students open their hearts to see the truth of body and mind.
Mindfulness is currently a "buzz" word even though these ancient teachings have been around for over 2500 years. Intellectually, many know the benefits of practicing Mindfulness, so why don't more people practice?
Perhaps we feel like we are managing just fine and don't feel the necessity. Maybe there is an awareness of underlying stress and anxiety but we have become so adept at suppressing, denying or distracting ourselves. Wherever you are in your life at this moment and whatever obstacles (large or small) you may be facing, practicing Mindfulness can help improve the quality of your life. When we train the mind correctly for present moment awareness, it becomes stable and helps keep us grounded. We have the ability to remain peaceful during difficult situations.
If you are open and willing to put in the right effort, the potential rewards are huge.
Mindfulness for Daily Life is a 5 week course located in Thornhill Ontario. Classes meet weekly and are 75 minutes long with a maximum of 15 people in a group. Small class size ensures everyone gets individual guidance in setting up both a formal and informal practice. Due to demand and popularity, I have divided my courses into different sections.
PART 1 is suitable for a beginner or someone who has never taken any classes with me.
During this course you will learn:
*The ABC's of meditation & mindfulness
*How to establish a formal practice
*How to eat mindfully
*How to be in the present moment and "awake" in your daily life
*How mindfulness leads to KINDNESS
*How to cultivate loving kindness (metta)
PART 2 - This course is suitable for anyone who has taken PART 1.
During this course you will learn:
*How to re-establish a formal meditation practice
*Become comfortable with your home base
*Review and delve deeper into the workings of the mind.
*Understand what is actually causing pain and discomfort
*Become aware of negative self chatter and how to break the habit
*How mindfulness leads to WISDOM
PART 3 - This course is suitable for anyone who has taken PART 2 several times and is committed to a regular mindfulness practice.
During this course you will :
*Review and delve deeper into the teachings in Part 1 & 2
*Start increasing the duration of your formal practice
*Reflect on how we bring mindfulness into all aspects of daily living, including our speech and actions
*Take up the challenge and spend longer stretches in SILENCE
*Delve deeper into the teachings of metta, compassion and equanimity.

Private sessions are an option for those who prefer to learn individually, or have a specific issue and would benefit from private mindfulness coaching. These sessions are tailored to one's individual needs. Booking times are flexible including evenings and weekends.
Semi private sessions can also be geared towards specific issues as well as covering all the key components in Parts 1, 2 & 3. For these sessions, you can attend with a friend, partner, parent or son or daughter.

Drop In Mindfulness Classes will be offered several times a year . These one hour classes are open to anyone who wants to learn about the benefits of Mindfulness and learn how to set up a home practice. It includes Mindfulness instruction, a guided meditation and an opportunity to ask questions. Next Drop In Class TBA.

If you would like to create your own private group invite your friends and family for a group class. There is an option of one class , a package of 3 or a package of 5. Contact me for times and fees.
I have had the good fortune of teaching Mindfulness to people ranging in age from 18 - 80 years old. I feel passionately about working with young adults in particular. They are under tremendous pressure and would benefit greatly from Mindfulness training . Any Young Adult between the ages of 18 - 25 can join the 5 week Mindfulness Course. You can also create your own Young Adult group with a minimum of 4 participants. Contact me for a convenient time and I will do my best to accommodate your schedule.

The purpose of theses sessions is to spend one hour in nature completely "unplugged" while walking in silence. This gives participants an opportunity to wake up to the inner world of body and mind. Mindfulness Instruction, a guided meditation and an opportunity to share and ask questions are included. Walking locations will be primarily at Earl Bales in North York or Pomona Mills in Markham.
